Destroyed

Dull stripes stripped the walls. Sad tears flow quietly forming streams through empty streets. Screams and shouts fill the streets with shame. Confused nightmares haunt the city scaring hopeful dreams away.
Alone voices echoe through hollow hallways and then the noise stopped. Tears turn to smiles, nightmares turn to dreams and fear turns to hope. The warm sun showers the city turning mud to grass and forming flowers for spring. Love protected the country giving hope to each person.

The Japenese Tsunami (and earthquake) destroyed lives, hope and dreams. Fear filled the country and we hope this disaster never happens again.

Dear People Of The Philippines

For as long as you live your love will remain,
Safe in a bottle stored away,
Where ever you are your hope will increase,
Staying as one perfect piece,
Sprint like a cheetah, fly like a dove,
Just like something that you would love,
Don't run away from the biggest fight,
Sneak up from behind and give it a fright,
Your heart might be broken and filled with fear,
But don't worry everything you love is still right here,
In your heart there will be pain,
But everything will recover again.

Stay strong, stay here.

FEAR

Remembering…

Fear; that stuck like gum on a side-walk. As harmful as silent cries, that hung the walls like streamers of blood…

The 27th of June 1836. The violent summer had given me a cold start to winter. My poor family had nowhere to live and nothing to eat. The past murders from the mysterious wolverine had given me nightmares, night after night dreaming of who was next. My father was weak from hunger. I was well, but I wasn’t expecting to live without him.

Hollow tears- Karis

The room was cold and empty; the floor boards added a touch of sadness as the red velvet chair rocked back and forth. It was the middle of winter. My family was alive as the violent storm was.

It was pitch black. The roof rattled sending waves of air through the house. I was alone hiding beneath my thin blankets scared to show my face to the world around me.

The trees slowed to a slight sway. My eyes settled to rest. But I knew as long as I lived, I would never be alone.

night or day? 100 WC

The lonely night was gradual forcing the moon across the silent sky. My thighs ached as bright red blood dripped onto my dirty feet. I stare up at the ruthless sky …and then I saw a bright light…

I stumble to my scratched knees as my eyes roll in pain. I knew what it was: a phosphorescent vehicle. Brighter than day. As the night moved on I was stuck staring. The delicate light brightened the night to feel like day. It was out of this world; literally.

I grabbed my camera from out of my ripped pocket. ‘SNAP’ Suddenly the vehicle moved off into the lonely night.

prefixes

Over the past few days, red group are learning about prefixes. This is to help our range of vocabuary and to understand the word. The first prefix we learnt about was sub. This means below. To learn about this one prefix it links onto others like sur (meaning above).

The next prefix we learnt about was inter (meaning between). Do you know any words with the prefix inter in it? Well, there are soooooo many like inter-school, intermediate, internet, intercept and interact. These all have the meanings between in it because they are all between something.

The last one we learnt about was intra. I thought this was the hardest because the words relating to it were words I've never heard about. Intra means within. I only know 2 words. Intrasitive and intravenous. Do you know what those words mean? If you do you should tell me!!!

The chubby fisherman

George was an old and chubby fisherman. He had ruff blonde hair, ripped t-shirt and faint jeans which usually fall down. George drove down in his small buggy that was ruthless for his size and parked by the sea as normal. He grabbed his line and waddled to his boat.

He parked the boat beside a huge reef of fish. He dropped his line. Suddenly a huge tug shot up Georges arm. Right in front of him was a huge big, red fish. It catapulted at Georges ugly face. George dropped the line and roared off in his shiny boat.

A dark night

A dark night...
The wind howls loudly,
My heart pounds like a million drums,
I closed my eyes,
Whispers of wind brushes my face singing peaceful tunes,
A silent shadow fades in spits of rain,
Roars of trees graunching,
Leaves rustling,
Awful crys from shaking fences,
Pikelets bark fills the lonely air,
I open my eyes,
He stands there shaking,
I rush inside breathing in a warm smell of lipbalm and bubble gum.

The new zealand native kereru

We have been learning about kereru a New Zealand native bird.
We are writing to tell you a little about them!!!

THROUGHOUT THEIR LIFE.

In the past kereru were killed by pakeha and maori. They have valuable meat and feathers. They were introduced by maori and pakeha came along and killed them for meat. The pakeha brang stoats, rats and cats that were predators of the kereru. Kereru become adults around 2yrs old and live around 10 to 20 years. They build their nests around late spring to summer (november to march).

WHAT AND WHERE THEY LIVE AND EAT.

They eat berries off the ground or in the trees, leaves twigs and shoots or other plants. They are found in low land native forests throughout the north and sout island.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE DOING TO HELP.

They have kept cats, stoats and rats away from their habitats and other native birds. Children at diamond harbour school have started a project to help the kereru. They are important to save beacause people around the world come to see them and other native birds. Also it spreads seeds of native trees.
